We have created this site to make people aware of the
short sighted developments which our Parish, District and County Council are
happily backing.
Braunton is a small quiet village, what you
could call a picture postcard village.

Our campaign effectively started when
Councillor Piper and Peter Ruddock were approached by a resident of Gubbins lane.

They were concerned that their elected Parish Councillors were not listening
to them and other villagers.
One of the main issues in question, was the proposed plans for 16 houses to
be built on an adjacent flood plain meadow. This meadow is also home to the
Otter, Kingfisher, Water Vole and over 40 recorded species of birds.
Through the center of this beautiful little time zone, is the remains of a
medieval hedge and the site is also home to Flora, Damsel and Dragonfly. Many species of
butterfly and moth are abundant, along with mature trees.

At the public inquiry many residents objected to the development, on the
grounds that the site had a serious flooding problem, it was the last
green amenity area in the center of Braunton, and the loss of wildlife was
totally unacceptable. All these objections were ignored , and the villagers
feelings treated with disdain.
The Braunton Residents Group was set up to try to fight this planned
development, we were also asked by another group to try to help stop the planned
development of the "Velator Link"
